Ankita is a 9-year-old girl, who graduated last year, and just like you are excessively worried about the pandemic affecting her education and career. But she is also a little relieved that she got plenty of time to think about what she wants to do with her life.
Ankita was known among her friends for being slightly introverted and yet very good with people. She was amazing at the subjects she liked. She was curious and eager to learn and yet believed that academic intellect is only one aspect of a person's intelligence. She was very sure that she wants to be involved with a field that allows her to grow as a person rather than just teaching her a subject in-depth.
She wanted to make sure that she chooses a field for her that gives her a platform to interact with plenty of people. She also wanted to not her choice of master limits her options. She wanted to explore her options but also wanted a degree that helps her in her pursuits.
After thinking through it, she decided that management studies or MBA might just be her thing. She learned that this course teaches her about an organisation's operation, function, and financial aspects and will help her inculcate entrepreneurial skills. This will also allow her to meet people from all walks of life.
She started researching entrance examinations and decided that the best strategy to make it to a top b-school is by appearing for multiple entrance examinations of different difficulty levels to make sure that she has a higher probability of acquiring a higher percentile. This is when she started researching about the CAT vs. other MBA Entrance Examinations that are there, eventually deciding to attempt the CMAT examination.
CMAT stands for the Common Management Admission Test. This is a national-level entrance examination conducted by a national testing agency, India. This examination allows candidates to seek admission in all AICTC approved colleges for management studies in India.
With some research, she understands that CMAT is a great option for her based on the following reasons-
- Easy to Moderate Difficulty Level: Many people underestimate the importance of knowing about an exam's difficulty level. Analyzing an exam's difficulty level helps a candidate to strategize and improve their percentiles for a guaranteed entry into top B-school. Ankita understood very early that MBA entrance examinations are more about strategizing and working smartly rather than studying religiously and working hard. CMAT is said to be an easy to moderately difficult entrance examination, which increases her chance of receiving a higher percentile.
- Syllabus Outside Numerical Ability: One of the factors about MBA entrance examinations that scared Ankita the most is arithmetic ability. She knew that quantitative skills are not her best abilities and she feared that this decreases her chances of scoring as well as she would like. But with CMAT, the syllabus is more dynamic and gives candidates like herself a fair chance. The syllabus for CMAT consists of Quantitative ability and data interpretation, logical reasoning, language comprehension, General awareness and an optional subject called entrepreneurship and innovation. In short, there are a lot of important subjects that candidates need to study before attempting an MBA Entrance exam.
- An Access to AICTC Affiliated Top Colleges: Since this is an examination conducted by a reputed body, this entrance filters out universities and colleges that are not approved by the government. This eradicates the chances of you being placed in a college that is not trustworthy with their certification. Ankita, during her research, had found out that many candidates end up paying hefty fees for colleges that are not even valid or affiliated with the government. But CMAT gives a candidate access to affiliated and reputed colleges and many top-b schools of India accept CMAT scores. Including colleges like JBIMS, Somaiya, WE school, Sydenham, IIFT, Goa institute of management, BIMTECH and many other top colleges.
- Does Not Need Special Preparation Time: Ankita was very determined that her approach to making it to a top management college is going to be strictly strategic as she has lesser time in hand. She was certain that she would make most of her time and try to find commonalities between the syllabus of different subjects so she would not have to take time to study for every single examination separately. This is a strategy recommended by experts and Ankita was certain to stick to it. Based on this, CMAT was a perfect examination to study for Quantitative ability, data interpretation and logical reasoning were more or less similar to the same subjects she studied for CET, CAT, and ATMA. This means that for a person preparing for MBA entrance examinations like CAT and CET, CMAT is like attending a bonus examination that is much easier than other exams and still has more or less the same syllabus. This makes CMAT a strategically sound option.
For all these reasons, Ankita decides that attending CMAT is a brilliant option for her. She decided that she will start reading more newspapers to gather more general knowledge and since was already extremely passionate about the entrepreneurial world, she was already in the habit of reading about it. So considering all the factors, CMAT can turn out to be helpful for a person like Ankita. Following the CMAT Examination journey from test application to results, she was able to crack the examination and get into the university of her choice.
It is recommended for all aspiring candidates that they first figure out a strategy that works for them, determine the number of hours you are willing to dedicate to studies each day and then try to see which MBA Entrance examination is best suited for you that will increase your chance of making it into a top B-school.
