In order to procure admission in PGDM, candidates need to give NMAT which is conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). It is a two-year program that is offered to graduate students. Post Interview merit list is published which includes the names of the selected candidates. It is an online test that can be given either in the exam centre or at home through proctoring. Unlike other MBA entrance tests, it gives an opportunity of three attempts to its students giving them a chance to improvise their scores. Exam Pattern for NMAT Just like other MBA entrance test, NMAT is a computer-based examination which contains multiple choice question papers. The examination can be held at the exam center or at the home of the candidate through proctoring. It is a moderately difficult exam, much easier than CAT and XAT. Candidates are given 120 minutes to solve the examination. Earlier there were 120 questions in the paper but from the 2020 pattern has changed now the question paper has only 108 questions of 1 mark each that are needed to solve within the given stipulated time period. Fortunately, there is no negative marking, so instead of leaving a question unanswered, candidates can make a calculated guess and mark the answer without the fear of penalty for a wrong answer.
NMAT allows its applicants to attempt the paper three times if they are not satisfied with their first score. This gives them an opportunity to improve their score.
There are three sections in NMAT that are given by GMAC. They test the basic verbal and quantitative abilities and skills of the candidates. Every section mentioned below is individually timed and there is no negative marking as per the 2020 exam pattern. Here are the details of the sections and the number of questions asked in NMAT:
Sections | No. of Questions | Time Allocated |
---|---|---|
Language Skills | 36 | 28 (minutes) |
