Marks scored by Amit in geography = 150\; \times \;\frac{{55}}{{100}}\; = \;82.5

In maths = 150\; \times \;\frac{{54}}{{100}}\; = \;81

82.5 : 81 = 55 : 54

Q4.

By how much do Yogesh’s total marks differ from that of Sadhana?

Total marks by Yogesh = 150 (0.7 + 0.6 + 0.65 + 0.56 + 0.75 + 0.62)

= 150 × 3.88 = 582

Total marks of Sdhana = 150 (0.78 + 0.5 + 0.85 + 0.64 + 0.7 + 0.72)

= 150 × 4.19 = 628.5

Difference in marks = 628.5 – 582 = 46.5

Data Interpretation

Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below.

Manish and Dinesh annual salary are Rs 250000 and Rs 300000 respectively. Manish annual savings is 20% of his annual salary and Dinesh annual savings is 25% of his annual salary. Manish spends annually  of the remaining salary on food and Dinesh spends annually  of remaining salary on food. Manish spends annually Rs 20000 on education and Dinesh spends annually Rs 35000 on education. Manish and Dinesh spend all their remaining salary on miscellaneous.

Q6.

The difference between the total expenditure on education and food by Manish and by Dinesh is what percent of the total savings of Manish and Dinesh together?

Manish savings =  × 250000 = 50000

Expenditure of Manish on food =  × (250000 – 50000) = 120000

Expenditure of Manish on Education = 20000

Expenditure of Manish on Miscellaneous = 250000 – (50000 + 120000 + 20000)

                                                           = 60000

Dinesh savings =  × 300000 = 75000

Expenditure of Dinesh on food =  × (300000 – 75000) = 90000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Education = 35000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Miscellaneous = 300000 – (75000 + 90000 + 35000)

                                                           = 100000

Total expenditure of Manish on food and education= 120000 + 20000 = 140000

Total expenditure of Dinesh on food and education = 90000 + 35000 = 125000

Difference = 140000 – 125000 = 15000

Total savings of Manish and Dinesh = 50000 + 75000 = 125000

Required percentage =  × 100 = 12%.

Q7.

If Manish spends 20% of his miscellaneous expenses on travelling and Dinesh spends 30% of his miscellaneous expenses on travelling. Find the ratio of Manish and Dinesh expenditure on travelling.

Manish savings =  × 250000 = 50000

Expenditure of Manish on food =  × (250000 – 50000) = 120000

Expenditure of Manish on Education = 20000

Expenditure of Manish on Miscellaneous = 250000 – (50000 + 120000 + 20000)

                                                           = 60000

Dinesh savings =  × 300000 = 75000

Expenditure of Dinesh on food =  × (300000 – 75000) = 90000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Education = 35000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Miscellaneous = 300000 – (75000 + 90000 + 35000)

                                                      = 100000

Answer: B

Manish expenditure on travelling =  × 60000= 12000

Dinesh expenditure on travelling =  × 100000= 30000

Required ratio = 12000: 30000 = 2: 5

Q8.

By what approx percent Manish saves less than Dinesh?

Manish savings =  × 250000 = 50000

Expenditure of Manish on food =  × (250000 – 50000) = 120000

Expenditure of Manish on Education = 20000

Expenditure of Manish on Miscellaneous = 250000 – (50000 + 120000 + 20000)

                                                           = 60000

Dinesh savings =  × 300000 = 75000

Expenditure of Dinesh on food =  × (300000 – 75000) = 90000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Education = 35000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Miscellaneous = 300000 – (75000 + 90000 + 35000)

                                                           = 100000

Answer: A

Required percentage=  × 100 = 33.33%.

Q9.

If Manish wants to save more by reducing his expenditure on food, education and miscellaneous by 8.33% , 10% and 16.66% respectively then his new savings is what percent of his annual salary.

Manish savings =  × 250000 = 50000

Expenditure of Manish on food =  × (250000 – 50000) = 120000

Expenditure of Manish on Education = 20000

Expenditure of Manish on Miscellaneous = 250000 – (50000 + 120000 + 20000)

                                                           = 60000

Dinesh savings =  × 300000 = 75000

Expenditure of Dinesh on food =  × (300000 – 75000) = 90000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Education = 35000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Miscellaneous = 300000 – (75000 + 90000 + 35000)

                                                           = 100000

Answer: B

New expenditure on food = 120000 – = 110000

New expenditure on education = 20000 –   = 18000

New expenditure on miscellaneous = 60000 –  = 50000

New savings = 250000 – (110000 + 18000 + 50000) = 72000

Required percentage =  × 100 = 28.80%.

Q10.

If Dinesh pay 16.66% of his savings on LIC then find his new approx savings percentage in respect of his annual salary.

Manish savings =  × 250000 = 50000

Expenditure of Manish on food =  × (250000 – 50000) = 120000

Expenditure of Manish on Education = 20000

Expenditure of Manish on Miscellaneous = 250000 – (50000 + 120000 + 20000)

                                                           = 60000

Dinesh savings =  × 300000 = 75000

Expenditure of Dinesh on food =  × (300000 – 75000) = 90000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Education = 35000

Expenditure of Dinesh on Miscellaneous = 300000 – (75000 + 90000 + 35000)

                                                           = 100000

Answer: A

Dinesh pay for LIC = 75000 - 75000 ×  = 62500

Required percentage =  × 100 = 20.83% = 21% approx.
